Pe 14 mai, Yaroslava Burlachenko, carismatica jucătoare pe postul de pivot de la CS Gloria 2018 Bistrița-Năsăud, își sărbătorește ziua de naștere. Născută la Kiev și devenită între timp cetățean român, Yaroslava a devenit mai mult decât o sportivă – este un simbol al rezilienței, al conexiunii și al pasiunii pentru handbal. I-am propus un altfel de interviu – unul care atinge nu doar cariera ei, ci și sufletul.
- Dacă ai putea trimite o scrisoare către tine, la 20 de ani, când tocmai ajungeai la Galați în 2012, ce i-ai scrie?
YB: ”I-aș scrie așa: „Sunt mândră de tine. Ai avut curaj să pleci dintr-un loc unde nu te simțeai bine și să cauți o viață care să te facă fericită. Chiar dacă ți-e frică, dacă simți că vrei ceva din tot sufletul — du-te după acel vis! Poți să treci peste orice. Viața îți dă exact cât poți duce. Credința ta e mult mai puternică decât frica. Vei reuși”
2. Care a fost cel mai greu moment al carierei tale în România și cum ai reușit să-l depășești?
YB: ”Unul dintre cele mai grele momente a fost sezonul din Craiova. Am stat mai mult pe bancă și nu înțelegeam de ce. Eram dezamăgită de mine, mă consumam în tăcere și voiam din tot sufletul să demonstrez că merit să fiu pe teren. Atunci nu știam încă să-mi gestionez gândurile, și mă durea să mă simt invizibilă. Dar tocmai acel moment m-a întărit. Mi-am spus: „Nu renunța. Arată cu fapte cine ești cu adevărat.”
3. Ai jucat în multe orașe din România: Galați, Craiova, Slobozia, Baia Mare, Buzău. Care ți-a rămas cel mai aproape de suflet și de ce?
YB: ”Cel mai aproape de sufletul meu rămâne Baia Mare. Acolo am jucat cea mai lungă perioadă din carieră și am crescut mult — atât ca sportivă, cât și ca om. Acolo a început una dintre cele mai mari transformări interioare din viața mea — care, cu timpul, s-a reflectat și în exterior. Fiind o persoană foarte vizuală, am rezonat din prima cu identitatea vizuală a orașului — inimile simbolice. Când o identitate e bine gândită și transmite valori reale, ea trezește sentimentul de apartenență. Așa s-a întâmplat și în Bistrița. M-a atras identitatea, ideologia, comunitatea. Când o echipă devine mai mult decât sport — devine un stil de viață.”
4. Ai spus că ai fost fascinată de Iași. Ce anume te-a fermecat la orașul acela?
YB: ”Ce m-a cucerit în Iași a fost energia din jurul Palatului Culturii. Am fost cazate chiar în apropiere și, în fiecare zi, treceam pe lângă fântânile luminate, muzica din difuzoare, oamenii care se plimbau, copiii care alergau… totul pulsa de viață. Mie îmi plac orașele care au un centru viu — un loc care adună oameni, emoții, povești. Orașele mici au farmecul lor calm. Dar orașele mari — cum e Iașiul — au dinamica aceea specială. Poate pentru că am crescut într-un oraș mare, cu clădiri impunătoare și multă frumusețe arhitecturală, m-am conectat imediat cu acel spirit. Iașiul m-a atins prin vibrație, aș spune.”
5. Când te gândești azi la „acasă”, e Kiev, Bistrița sau alt loc?
YB: ”Pentru mine, „acasă” nu e un loc — e o stare. E acel sentiment de bine, de liniște interioară. Oriunde călătoresc, iau cu mine propria mea energie, propriul echilibru — deci iau „acasă” cu mine. Dar dacă vorbim despre un loc concret în care mi-ar plăcea să trăiesc… doar anul trecut am simțit pentru prima dată acea potrivire. Până atunci, am fost mereu într-o căutare tăcută, undeva în fundal.”

6. Ești una dintre puținele jucătoare care interacționează des și profund cu fanii în mediul online. De ce e important pentru tine?
YB: ”Ce e un artist fără publicul lui?
Pentru mine, nu e vorba despre a crea o imagine de viață perfectă. Eu caut să creez profunzime și bucurie reală în viața mea — și abia apoi transform asta în conținut. Cred că adevărata frumusețe a vieții vine atunci când poți împărtăși emoțiile tale cu alții. Desigur, am și eu granițele mele personale, dar aleg conștient să fiu sinceră în ceea ce transmit. Pentru că asta mă ajută să atrag oameni care sunt pe aceeași frecvență cu mine. Și în acest gen de comunitate — mă simt bine, văd sens, și simt că merită să împărtășesc.”
7. Care e cel mai frumos mesaj pe care l-ai primit vreodată de ziua ta?
YB: ”De-a lungul anilor am primit multe mesaje frumoase de ziua mea. Dar cel mai mult îmi place când oamenii îmi scriu cum le-am influențat viața, cu ce am rezonat în ei, ce și-au amintit despre mine. Cred că ziua de naștere e un moment perfect pentru astfel de gânduri — aduce mai mult sens vieții. Poate chiar voi posta o formă specială în stories, să le ofer ocazia să-mi scrie ceva din inimă.”
8. Dacă nu ai fi jucătoare de handbal, ce ai face acum?
YB: ”Probabil aș fi fost artistă și mi-aș fi exprimat latura creativă în multe feluri. Aș fi cântat, aș fi jucat în filme, aș fi urcat pe scenă, aș fi devenit speaker sau coach. Psihologie, marketing, călătorii — aș fi avut destule drumuri de explorat. Dar chiar și așa, sportul rămâne pe primul loc în viața mea. Încă n-am spus tot ce am de spus prin handbal. De asta sunt încă aici.”
9. Ce ai învățat de la colegele tale românce – dincolo de sport?
YB: ”De la colegele mele din România am învățat un lucru esențial prin sport: să mă bucur din suflet de handbal. Mi-a plăcut mereu cum familiile lor vin împreună la meciuri, cum merg cu echipa preferată în deplasări, cum transformă handbalul într-o experiență de familie. M-a inspirat mult acest vibe: familie + sport + bucurie. Și asta îmi doresc și eu pentru viitoarea mea familie: să ducem mai departe energia asta frumoasă.”
10. În final, care este mesajul tău de ziua ta pentru fanii din Bistrița și pentru toți cei care te susțin?
YB: ”Vreau să le mulțumesc din inimă tuturor celor care mă susțin — pentru atenție, pentru mesaje, pentru energia bună. Cât timp sunt aici, îmi doresc să creăm cât mai multe momente frumoase împreună. Să creștem, să evoluăm, să câștigăm și să sărbătorim împreună. Vă simt aproape. Și asta contează enorm.”

Born in Kyiv and now a naturalized Romanian citizen, Yaroslava has become more than an athlete—she’s a symbol of resilience, connection, and passion for the game. We asked her for a different kind of interview—one that touches not only her career but also her soul.
- If you could send a letter to your 20-year-old self, just arriving in Galați back in 2012, what would you write?
YB: I’d say:
“I’m proud of you. You had the courage to walk away from a life that didn’t make you happy and step toward the one you dreamed of. Even if fear shows up — if your heart says yes, follow it. You’re stronger than you think. Life won’t give you more than you can handle. And always remember: your faith is bigger than your fear. You’ve got this.”
2. What was the hardest moment of your career in Romania and how did you overcome it?
YB: One of the hardest moments came during my season in Craiova. I spent most of it on the bench and didn’t understand why. I was disappointed in myself, constantly overthinking, and deeply wanted to prove I deserved to be out there. I didn’t yet know how to calm my mind, and it hurt to feel invisible. But that moment made me stronger. I told myself: “Don’t give up. Let your actions show who you really are.”
3. You’ve played in many cities: Galați, Craiova, Slobozia, Baia Mare, Buzău. Which one stayed closest to your heart and why?
YB: ”Baia Mare is closest to my heart. It’s where I spent the longest part of my career and where I grew the most — both as a player and as a person.
That city marked the beginning of deep inner transformations that later became visible on the outside.
Since I’m a very visual person, I instantly connected with Baia Mare’s identity — the symbolic hearts.
When a visual identity is crafted with care and rooted in values, it creates a real sense of belonging.
The same happened in Bistrița. I was drawn to the identity, the values, the community When a team becomes more than just a team — it becomes a way of life.””
4. You said you were mesmerized by Iași. What exactly enchanted you about the city?
YB: ” What enchanted me in Iași was the energy around the Palace of Culture.
I was staying nearby, and every day I walked past the glowing fountains, the music playing in the background, people strolling, kids running — everything felt alive.
I love cities that have a beating heart — a place that gathers people, emotions, and stories.
Small towns have their calm charm. But big cities — like Iași — have that special rhythm.
Maybe because I grew up in a big city with grand buildings and rich architecture, I instantly connected with that spirit.
Iași touched me through its vibe, I’d say.”
5. When you think of „home” today, is it Kyiv, Bistrița, or somewhere else?
YB: ” For me, “home” isn’t a place — it’s a state of being. It’s that feeling of calm and wholeness.
Wherever I travel, I carry myself with me — so I bring that sense of “home” wherever I go.
But if we’re talking about a specific place I’d love to live… that clarity only came to me last year.
Before that, I was always in a kind of quiet search — like something was missing in the background.”
6. You’re one of the few players who regularly engages deeply with fans online. Why is that important to you?
YB: ”What is an artist without an audience? For me, it’s not about pretending to live a perfect life. I focus on actually creating real depth and joy in my life — and then I share from that space. I believe the richness of life comes from being able to share your emotions with others.”
7. What’s the most beautiful message you’ve ever received on your birthday?
YB: ”Over the years, I’ve received many beautiful birthday messages.
But what I love the most is when people tell me how I’ve impacted their life, what they appreciated about me, or what moment stuck with them.
I believe birthdays are the perfect time for those kinds of reflections — they add meaning to life.
I might even post a little form in my stories this year, to give people the chance to share something from the heart.”
8. If you weren’t a handball player, what would you be doing right now?
YB: ”I’d probably be an artist — finding ways to express my creative side. I’d be singing, acting, speaking on stages, maybe even coaching. Psychology, marketing, travel… there are so many paths I’d love to explore. But even now, sport is still my number one. I haven’t said everything I want to say through handball — that’s why I’m still here.”
9. What did you learn from your Romanian teammates—beyond sport?
YB: ”Through sport, I learned something beautiful from my Romanian teammates — how to truly have fun playing handball.
I’ve always loved how their families come to games together, how they travel with their favorite team, how they turn handball into a shared family experience.
That whole vibe — family + sport + joy — really inspired me.
And it’s something I want to pass on to my future family too.”
10. Finally, what’s your birthday message to your fans in Bistrița and to all the people who support you?
YB: ”I want to thank from the bottom of my heart everyone who supports me — for your attention, your messages, your good energy.
As long as I’m here, I want us to create as many beautiful moments together as possible.
